John J. Shaloka, mid-70s, of 607 W. Pine St., Mahanoy City, died Sunday
afternoon in Bloomsburg Hospital, where he had been a patient three days. Born
in Natalie, he was a son of the late John and Anna Chervernock Shaloka. He
resided in Mahanoy City most of his life. He graduated from Marion Heights High
School and was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
Retired, he last worked as business manager at Buck Hill Falls. Surviving are
his wife, the former Olga Gulick; two daughters, Eleanor, Pottstown, and Marie,
Mahanoy City; a brother, Monsignor Joseph Shaloka, Terryville, Conn.; two
sisters, Anna Lashendock and Elsie Shaloka, both of Philadelphia; a
granddaughter, Karen, Pottstown; nieces and nephews. Services will be held at
9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Truskowsky Funeral Home, Mahanoy City. Divine Liturgy
Will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's, with interment in the parish
cemetery.
