Mary Stempko, 140 N. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, died Thursday morning at the
Hazleton General Hospital. Born in McAdoo, she was the daughter of the late
Michael and Veronica (Stahura) Havrilko. Mrs. Stempko was a member of St.
Kunegunda's Church, McAdoo and served as past president of the Altar and Rosary
Society of the parish. She was preceded in death by brothers, John Havrilko and
Vincent Havrilko and a sister, Margaret Hartz. Surviving are her husband Frank,
to whom she would have been married 50 years on Aug. 17, 1990; daughters, Mrs.
Joseph (Elizabeth) Zellner, Yonkers, N.Y.; Mrs. Charles (Frances) Thompson,
Harrisburg; Sister Maureen Joseph, C.S.F.M., Al-toona; four grandchildren;
sisters, Helen Tomko, Frackville; Verna Petrole, Tresckow; brothers, Francis,
North Brook, Ill.; Carl, Hometown; Bernard, Shenandoah Heights, and several
nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from
the Stanley E. Anilosky Funeral Home, McAdoo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated in St. Kunegunda's Church, McAdoo, at 10 a.m. Interment will take
place in the parish cemetery. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Rev. Joseph L. Grembocki will conduct a Christian wake service today at 7:30
p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Family of Nazareth Memorial
Fund, Pittsburgh.
