Walter J. Stempko, 132 W. Sherman St., McAdoo, died at the Hazleton State
General Hospital this morning at 1:45 o'clock following a short illness. Born in
Tresckow, the deceased was a son of the late John and Caroline (Marone) Stempko.
He had resided in McAdoo most of his life and was a member of St. Kunegunda's R.
C. Church, that community. He had been employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corp. at
Bethlehem. Surviving are his wife, the former Verna Yadlosky; one daughter,
Susan, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Nussbaum, Albany, N. Y . , and Mrs. Joseph
(Anna) For-tuna, this city; and a brother, Frank, McAdoo. There are a number of
nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a. m. from the
Stanley Anilosky Funeral Home, McAdoo. Mass of the Resurrection will be
celebrated at 10 o'clock in St. Kuneguda's Church, and interment will be in the
parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p. m. and Friday from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.
