Hancock, St. McAdoo, died at 2:45 p.m. yesterday in the Hazleton State General Hospital, where he had been a patient since Friday. Born in Tresckow, he was a son of the late John and Caroline (Marone) Stempko, and lived most of his life in McAdoo. A former borough councilman, he was appointed to serve for two years in the late 50s. Until retirement several years ago, he was employed by the former Glen Auden Coal Co., Audenried Colliery. He was a member of St. Kunegunda's Catholic Church, McAdoo, the parish Holy Name Society and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Surviving are his wife, the former Ella Morris; two sons, Joseph, at home; and Paul George, of Cambridge, Ohio; four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mae Nusbaum, Albany, N. Y., and Mrs. Anna Fortuna, this city; and two brothers, Walter and Frank, both of McAdoo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held from the Stanley E. Anilosky Funeral Home, 145 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, at 9 a.m. Thursday, with a solemn high mass of requiem in St. Kunegunda's Church at 9:30 o'clock, and interment in the parish cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Friends may call from 7 to 10 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
