Pottsville Republican, March 24, 1923
James Tobin, of Cumbola, aged 54, died at the family residence at that place 
on Friday morning, following an extended illness with complications, which 
dated back about four years, although he had been bedfast only the past few 
months. Since the sudden death of his son, Michael, who was killed four years 
ago, and since that time has been in failing health.

Before taking sick he was employed as fire boss at the Eagle Hill colliery, 
and was a member of Holy Family church, of New Phila.  He leaves to survive 
him, his wife, and the following children: James, John, Thomas, Patrick, 
Dennis, Richard and Joseph, and the following daughters, Helen and Lucy, wife 
of Steve Hoptock.  He also leaves the following sisters: Mrs. John Foley, of 
Palo Alto, Mrs. James McIntyre and Mrs. Adam Wanamaker, of Pottsville
