We encourage links to the state and county table of contents _________________________________________________________________________ Book 1 page 308 - The Last will and testament of Peter Wetzel of Upper Mahantongo township Schuylkill County, I Peter Wetzel, considering the uncertainity of the mortal life, and being of sound mind and memory blessed be Almighty god for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, First it is my will and desire that my beloved wife Elizabeth Wetzel is to have for her use as long as she lives or remains my widow all my lands that I at this time own and after her death or not being my widow it is my will that the said land I own shall be appraised and my son Daniel shall be at liberty to take said land at the appraisement if he chooses to take it if not taken by Daniel it shall besold to the highest and best bidder and the proceeds thereof of the land and movables to be equally divided to my heirs and legal representatives, my two of my daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine being dead it is my will that each ones children to have their mothers portion that would be coming to them if they should live at this time out of my estate and it is my will that my wife Elizabeth Wetzel shall be at liberty to take of any or as much as she wants for her use of the personal property that may be left after my death and she to be the proper owner thereof as long as she lives or remains my widow and after her decease or not being my widow it shall be sold and the proceeds thereof be equally divided to my heirs and legal represesentatives as aforesaid. It is also my will that the Youngest of my children Leah is to have for her own all she may get of furniture beding crockery etc from me and my wife besides her other portion that she may get by an equal division as aforesaid. It is my will and desire that my personal property that may be left after my said widow having taken what she may want as aforesaid to be sold and the proceeds applied to pay off my just debts. I hereby appoint my son Daniel and my beloved wife Elizabeth Wetzel my executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoke all former wills by me made. I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty third day of Nov in the year of our Lord one thousand eigh hundred and forty two. Signed sealed published and declared by the above bnamed Peter Wetzel to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in the presence have subscribed as wittness thereunto. Schuylkill County SS Be it remembered that on the twentieth day of March AD 1843 begore one John H Downing register for the probate of wills and granting letters of administration in and for Schuylkill County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania personally came George Boyer and Jacob B. Hepler the subscribing witness to the forgoing will and after being duly sworn according to law they did on oath depose and say that they were personally present and read and explained the said will to Peter Wetzel the testator sign seal publish prounouce and declare the fore going instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that at the time of so doing he was of perfect sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief and that they at the same time at his request and in his presence subscribed before me the day and year aforesaid. ___ Downing register George Boyer Jacob B Hepler 20th March 1843 letter test granted to Elizabeth wetzel and Daniel Wetzel they being first duly sworn according to law, see let test book A page 7.
