IS KILLED ON FIRST RIDE ON HIS NEW MOTORCYCLE

  SELINSGROVE. June 18. - Howard C. Shaffer, 21, of Aline, this county, 
was killed on the first ride he took on his new motorcycle.  He had 
just bought his machine, had not mastered its operation and lost 
control of it.
  When he did not return a searching party found him unconscious at the 
foot of a tree and the machine smashed, indicating that he had run into 
the tree head-on.  He was taken home and never recovered.  Doctors said 
death was due to a fractured skull.
