Snyder, a resident and shoemaker of Somerset, Somerset county, Pennsylvania, was there born October 11, 1852, a son of George and Henrietta (Heyr) Snyder, and grandson of John H. and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Snyder. His maternal grandparents were Charles F. and Mary Heyr. John F. Snyder acquired a common school education, and has followed the occupation of a shoemaker the most of his life, being very prosperous in this line. He is a Republican in politics, and a member of the Lutheran church. Mr. Snyder married, in 1875, Mary Walker, who was born October 13, 1854, the daughter of Peter and Amy (Nedrow) Walker. They have two children, Cora and Leila.
