We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Transcribed from photocopy of the original filed in Recorder of Deeds Office, Vol 10, page 144, Somerset County Courthouse, Somerset, PA: Bill of Sale or Mortgage, Nicholas Long to Joseph Long Know all men by these presents that I Nicholas Long of Elklick Township, Somerset County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, have granted, bargained, and sold, and by these Presents do grant, bargain and sell and deliver unto Joseph Long of Brothers valley township in the County of Somerset and Commonwealth aforesaid for the Consideration of three hundred and fifty dollars Lawful money of the United States owing and coming to said Joseph Long by said Nicholas Long the following property, Viz: one Bay mare, one other bay mare, one gray mare, 1 sorrel colt, 2 bay colts, five milk cows and eleven head of young cattle, sixteen head of hogs, one copper still and the hogs heads kegs & the remainder belonging to the distillery, one loome and the Gears and other articles belonging to the weaving bussiness, one stove and pipe, two beds Bedstaeds & Beding, two Ploughs and one Harrow, four set of horse geers, one waggon, one windmill, one cutting box and knife, four barrels of cider oil, five Iron kettles, one rifle, two chists, nine acres of winter grain in the ground, one copper kettle, three hundred & fifty pounds of hams shoulders & side pieces of bacon, one hundred and sixty pounds of gun powder, sixty Bushels of oats, fifteen bushels of wheat, fifteen bushels rye, 2 log chains, 2 axes, 1 mattock, 2 shovels all which property is to be had and held by said Joseph Long absolutely to him the said Joseph Long his heirs, Executors, administrators, or assigns forever, with this reservation, that if the said Nicholas Long, his heirs, Executors or administrators or Either of them shallwell and truly pay or cause to be paid the above sum of three hundred & fifty dollars money as above said on or before the fifth day of April Anno Domini one thousand Eight hundred & twenty five with lawfull interest for the same without any fraud or further delay then this present bill of sale or mortgage shall cease determine & be coid & the property aforesaid shall revert to said Nicholas Long his heirs or assigns as fully as though this Mortgage or Bill of Sale had not been made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this fifth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty two.
