Allen, Samuel

* Born May 6, 1837 in Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died Jan. 15, 1919 
* Private Co. A 75th Regiment Illinois Infantry 
* Enrolled Aug. 15, 1862 at age 24 in Dixon, Ill. for 3 years of service 
* Mustered in Sept 2, 1862 in Dixon, Ill
* Mustered out June 12, 1865 
* Discharged at Camp Harker, Nashville, Tennessee 
* He was in battles at Nashville, Franklin, Chattanooga and the Atlanta campaign 
* He was not wounded, but while sick in a Kentucky hospital he was captured by 
John Morgan's troops. 
* Invalid Pension: Applied May 19, 1880 and Mar. 23, 1907, Application #364399, 
Certificate #237180
