Infantry * Enrolled Oct. 6, 1861 at Draketown, Pa., at age 32 * Mustered in Nov. 12, 1861 at Uniontown, Pa. * Mustered out Nov. 22, 1864 with company * Served Nov. 12, 1861 - Nov. 22, 1864 - 36 month 10 days * Wounded Aug. 21, 1863 at Folly Island * He was presented with a gold medal for conspicuous bravery at the battle of Morris Island, he having led a charge on the enemy's breast works. While on picket duty in Virginia he captured Major J. B. Washington of the Confederate army.
