* Private Co. F 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry  
* Enrolled Aug. 21, 1862 at age 22 in Berlin, Pa. by F. A. Edmunds 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Lieutenant Brayton, U. S. A. 
* Served Aug. 25, 1862 
* Died Jan. 25, 1865 in Andersonville Prison, Georgia; Grave 12520 
* Eyes - Dark; Hair - Sandy; Complexion - Light; Height - 5' 8" 
* Occupation at enrollment - Plaster 
* Most likely a brother of Joseph B., as they share a tombstone 
* Severely wounded in the head at Fredericksburg Dec. 13, 1862 
* he was wounded in head and breast while carrying the Colors in the battle of 
Fredericksburg 
* Returned from hospital Apr. 27, 1863 
* He was in the battles of Wilderness and Spotsylvania where he was taken 
prisoner May 20, 1864. 
* Captured while on picket line, appears he was unwell at the time.
