Black, Jeremiah Sullivan

* Born Jan. 10, 1810 near Brotherton, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died Aug. 19, 1883 
* Judge Black interceded on behalf of the men of Co. B 54th Regiment Pa. 
Infantry, who were captured Oct. 4th at Paw Paw, West Virginia and taken to 
Richmond, Virginia. 
* The entire company was captured. The Rebels were going to execute the 
prisoners. 
* After much difficulty Judge Black succeeded and the men were exchanged and 
subsequently rejoined their regiment,
