Somerset Co. Pa. * Died July 2, 1899 * Buried in Stahl Mennonite Cemetery, Conemaugh Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. * Private Co. C 54th Regiment Pa. Infantry * Enrolled Mar. 17, 1864 at age 21 in Chambersburg, Pa * Mustered in Mar. 17, 1864 as Private in Chambersburg, Pa. * Discharged May 31, 1865 by General Order #77 War. Dept. * Served Mar. 17, 1864 - May 31, 1865 - 14 month 14 days * Height - 5'8"; Hair - Dark; Complexion - Dark; Eyes - Grey * Occupation - Carpenter * Residence at enlistment - Conemaugh Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. * He enlisted to serve in the 54th Regiment with 11 other men. By some mistake they were placed in Co. F 45th Regiment Pa. Infantry. Before the error was rectified he was wounded in the neck and shoulder at Spotsylvania Court House. After being wounded he was sent home on furlough. Upon his return to service he and the others of the 12 men who had not been killed or died of disease were transferred to Co. C 54th Regiment Pa Infantry * Transferred from Co. H 54th Regiment on Mar. 27, 1865 per Special Order #61 War Dept. A. G.
