C. * Drafted Mar. 10, 1865 at Chambersburg, Pa. * Due to report Mar. 27 - 31, 1865 at Chambersburg, Pa. He had a pregnant wife and two small children, and he was trying to move them to Maryland. The Army caught him and took him by force. He never had a leave to see the family, but went A W O L one night. He saw his wife, and left a bag of candy for the children, after looking in on them. The children did not see him as they were sleeping.
