* Private Battery K 204th Regiment 5th Pa. Heavy Artillery 
* Enlisted Aug. 26, 1864 at age 26 in Somerset, Pa. by Lt. Snyder 
* Mustered in Sept. 1, 1864 in Pittsburgh, Pa by Lt. Williams for 1 year 
* Died Oct. 5, 1864 at Fort Sumner, Md. 
* Buried in National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. 
* Brother of Joseph and Jonas M. Cook
* Widow Pension lists the following: Widow - Catherine E.; Maiden name of 
Catherine is Ellenberger; Edward and Catherine were married on Mar. 1, 1860; 
Minor child of Edward and Catherine is Margaret born Jan. 2, 1861; Admitted July 
8, 1866 to a pension of $8 per month commencing Oct. 5, 1864; On Aug. 9, 1867 
Catherine was granted a pension of $8 per month with an additional $2 for each 
minor child until the age of 16 commencing July 25, 1866
