Somerset Co. Pa. * Co. H 1st W. Va. Cavalry * Awarded the Cong. Medal of Honor for distinguished Bravery under fire at the Battle of Saylor's Creek. He served under Custer and was present at Lee's surrender at Appomattox. * Congressional Medal of Honor - Sailors Creek, Virginia Apr. 6, 1865 - Issued May 3, 1865 - Citation: Capture of battle flag of 12th Virginia Infantry (C.
