Infantry * Drafted June 21, 1864 at age 28 in Chambersburg, Pa. * Enlisted June 21, 1864 * Mustered in June 21, 1864 in Chambersburg, Pa. * Killed Apr. 7, 1865 at Farmville, Va. * Widow Pension: Applied June 15, 1865, Application #97740, Certificate #83073; Minor Pension: Application #162277, Certificate #117611 * Widow Pension lists the following: Widow - Rose Ann; Maiden name of Rose is Shoemaker; Frederick and Rose were married Mar. 10, 1862; Minor children are William born Jan. 15, 1863, died Dec. 5, 1865 and James Frederick Mar. 25, 1865; On Sept. 8, 1866 Rose was granted a pension of $8 per month commencing Apr. 7, 1865; On Jan. 15, 1867 Rose married Harry Bauman who died on Aug. 27, 1900; On May 1, 1868 Rose was granted a pension of $8 per month commencing Apr. 7, 1865 with an additional $2 for James Frederick until he reaches the age of 16 on Mar. 24, 1881; Gideon Bauman was appointed guardian of James Frederick; On May 18, 1874 Gideon received a pension of $8 per for James Frederick; On Dec. 3, 1907 Rose received a pension of $12 per month; Rose was last paid Jan. 4, 1915 at the rate of $12 per month and was dropped from the pension roll due to her death on Apr. 3, 1915; Check dated Apr. 4, 1915 for $36 was returned because of her death on Apr. 3, 1915; Manasses H. Bauman filed a Reimbursement Claim for the following: Physician ($5) and Undertaker ($143) a total of $148. He was awarded $36 the amount of accrued pension.
