Infantry * Enlisted Feb. 18, 1864 at age 18 in Stoystown, Somerset Co. Pa. * Mustered in Feb. 27, 1864 as Private in Harrisburg, Pa. * Discharged Sept. 13, 1865 * Absent, sick at muster out * Served Feb. 27, 1864 - Aug. 30, 1865 * Disability - Shot through elbow left arm and hips at Cold Harbor, the latter cut the sinews between wrist and elbow. When partially healed he found he would lose the use of his hand. He tore the tendons loose and allowed them to heal in that position.
