* Private Co. D 133 Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enrolled Aug. 5, 1862 at age 18 in Somerset, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Mustered in Aug. 14, 1862 in Harrisburg, Pa. 
* Mustered out May 26, 1863 with company 
* Served Aug. 14, 1862 - May 26, 1863 
* Private Co. I 55th Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enlisted Feb. 18, 1864 at age 18 in Stoystown, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Mustered in Feb. 27, 1864 as Private in Harrisburg, Pa. 
* Discharged Sept. 13, 1865 
* Absent, sick at muster out 
* Served Feb. 27, 1864 - Aug. 30, 1865 
* Disability - Shot through elbow left arm and hips at Cold Harbor, the latter 
cut the sinews between wrist and elbow. When partially healed he found he would 
lose the use of his hand. He tore the tendons loose and allowed them to heal in 
that position. The surgeons wanted to amputate the arm but he refused the 
operation. The wound healed and gave him the use of the hand.
