* Born June 3, 1838 in Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Private Co. F 198th Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enrolled Aug. 22, 1864 at age 26 in Bens Creek, Pa. 
* Mustered in Sept. 2, 1864 in Philadelphia, Pa for 1 year 
* Mustered out June 4, 1865 with company 
* Discharged June 4, 1865 
* In 1864 he was confined in hospital in Southside, R. R. Va. for five days with 
Chronic Diarrhea 
* He was in the following battles: Popular Grove Church, Southside R. R., Reams 
Station, Hatcher's Run, Luther's Farm, Grabble Creek, Five Forks, Appomattox and 
several others 
* Invalid Pension: Applied Aug. 12, 1890, Application #906318, Certificate 
#708947; Widow Pension: Application #866145, Certificate #635785
