I 2nd Regiment Maryland Potomac Home Brigade Infantry * Company Muster In Roll lists the following: Enlisted Sept. 13, 1861 in Grantsville, Md. for 3 years service * Sick in hospital * Company Muster Roll dated Sept. and Oct. 1862 lists him as absent 9 days without leave * Company Muster Roll dated Jan. and Feb. 1863 lists him as sick in hospital * Company Muster Roll dated Jan. and Feb. 1864 lists him as absent, under arrest * Company Muster Roll dated Mar. & Apr. 1864 lists him as absent, under arrest awaiting sentence G. C. M. * Company Muster Roll dated May and June 1864 and July & Aug. 1864 lists him as under arrest, undergoing sentence G. C. M. for 2 years from June 1, 1864 and to be dishonorably discharged * Company Muster Out Roll dated Oct. 31, 1864 lists him as sentenced to 2 years labor in military prison at Wheeling, W. Va.; to forfeit all pay and to be dishonorably discharged * War Department Notation lists the following: March 19, 1863 tried by General Court Martial on the charge conduct to the prejudice of good order and Military Discipline. Found guilty and sentenced to serve hard labor with ball and chain attached to his leg at some Government work, to be designated by the Commanding Officer for the period of two (2) years.
