* From Somerfield, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* 1st Lieutenant Co. H 85th Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enlisted Sept. 1, 1861 at age 41 in Somerfield, Pa. 
* Mustered in Nov. 12, 1861 as 1st Lieutenant in Uniontown, Pa. 
* Killed in Battle of Fair Oaks May 30, 1862 
* Ledger shows this man in Co. C 
* He was killed three weeks before his brother-in-law, Milton Black, died. James 
Hamilton helped to raise this company. 
* Widow Pension: Applied Dec. 24, 1863, Application #41596, Certificate #107652
