* Born July 8, 1839 in Dessen, Darmstadt, Germany 
* Died Feb. 2, 1934 at age 95 in Johnstown, Pa. 
* Buried in Brethren Cemetery, Sipesville, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Private Co. F 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enrolled Aug. 22, 1862 at age 23 in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. by F. A. Edmunds 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Captain Saylor 
* Served Aug. 25, 1862 - July 21, 1865 - 34 month 26 days 
* Disability - Gunshot wound in left hand 
* Residence in 1925 - Somerset, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Eyes - Gray; Hair - Sandy; Complexion - Fair; Height 5' 4" 
* Occupation at enrollment - Shoemaker 
* He deserted Oct. 1, 1862 at Frederick, Md. and returned Dec. 1, 1863, was 
wounded in the hand by a Minnie ball while straggling  in the rear during the 
Wilderness fight. Transferred to Co. B 14th Regiment Veterans Reserve Corps 
Sept. 18, 1864 
* Discharged July 21, 1865 by General Order 
* Invalid Pension: Applied July 2, 1879 and Feb. 21, 1907, Application #295717,
