* Died Sept. 2, 1919 in Soldiers Home, Illinois 
* Sergeant Co. F 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enrolled Aug. 11, 1862 at age 23 in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Lieutenant Brayton, U. S. A. 
* Transferred to Sharp Shooters 
* Mustered out with company May 29, 1865
* Promoted from Corporal to Sergeant Nov 27, 1863 
* Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant June 3, 1865; but was not mustered in as such 
* Eyes - Brown; Hair - Black; Complexion - Dark; Height 5' 10" 
* Occupation at enrollment - Teacher 
* He was in the following battles: Chancelorsville; Fredericksburg; Wilderness; 
Laurel Ridge; Spotsylvania; North Ann River; Bethesda Church; Petersburg; Welden 
R. R.; Popular Grove Church; Peebles Farm; Raid to Bellfield; Hatches Run; 
Dabney Mill; Boyd Town; Plank Road; Five Forks and Lee's surrender.
