Cavalry * Enlisted July 9, 1863 as Private at age 19 in Day Run for six months service * Mustered in July 9, 1863 in Harrisburg, Pa * Discharged as Private at Chambersburg, Pa. Feb. 20, 1864 by reason of expiration of term of service * Served July 10, 1863 - Feb. 20, 1864 * Re-enlisted Sept. 1, 1864 in Co. I 9th Regiment Pa. Veteran Cavalry * Discharged as Private in Lexington, N. C. on May 29, 1865 by General Order #77 War Dept. He was with General Sherman on the Famous March to the Sea at Griswald, Georgia he had his horse shot from under him.
