Keefer, Israel

* Born July 11, 1839 in Greenville Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died May 16, 1925 
* During our great civil conflict he was exempted from service on the firing 
line because of physical unfitness, but was nevertheless in the service of Uncle 
Sam for some time. 
* Discharged in Washington, D. C., he traveled on foot from there to Donegal, 
Westmoreland Co. Pa.
