Pa. * Died June 30, 1883 in Falls City, Nebraska * He furnished army contractor with cattle. On one of these trips he was taken prisoner by General J. E. B. Stuart in his famous Maryland raid. On the trip to Richmond he mad several ineffectual attempts to escape. At first he was put on an island in the James River, and later Libby Prison. He was a prisoner for 5 months. He was a citizen prisoner and was released through the efforts of Thad Stevens. He had a considerable sum of money on him, which the Rebels failed to find.
