Infantry * Enrolled Feb. 25, 1862 to serve 3 years * Contracted diarrhea in July 1862 near Harrison Landing * Discharged by reason of Surgeon's Certificate of Disability at Fort Wood, New York * Age 49 * Height - 5'5"; Hair - Brown; Complexion - Light; Eyes - Brown * Occupation - Farmer * Paid in full Jan. 28, 1864 * Served Feb. 25, 1862 - Oct. 20, 1862 - 7 month 23 days * Widow Pension: Applied Oct. 29, 1866, Application #136343, Certificate #91613 * Widow Pension lists the following: Widow - Mary, John and Mary married Sept. 6, 1839 in Jenner Twp. Somerset Co. Pa., On Mar. 13, 1867 Mary was granted a pension of $8 per month commencing Mar. 4, 1867, Mary was last paid on Jan. 4, 1897 at the rate of $12 per month and was dropped from the pension roll due to her death on Jan. 26, 1897, Children were John Born Sept. 5, 1849 and Sarah born Feb. 28, 1851 and died Mar. 8, 1863 [NOTE: The children would have been too old to receive a minor pension.], John is the father of Jacob Keifer who served in the same company.
