* Mustered in as Private Oct 11, 1861 at Harrisburg, Pa

* Height - 5'8 3/4"; Hair - Sandy; Complexion - Fair; Eyes - Grey 
* Occupation - Teacher 
* Residence at enlistment - Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Brother of Amos W., Henry Franklin and Oliver 
* Mother Pension: Applied Aug. 16, 1864, Application #61251, Certificate #64187
* Mother, Nancy Knepper, received $8 per month commencing May 16, 1864; 
certificate dated Feb. 6, 1866 and sent to H. F. Schell. She signed her name 
with an X.
