G 19th United States Infantry * Enlisted Feb. 24, 1862 at age 26 in Johnstown, Pa. for 3 years service * Occupation at enlistment - Carpenter * Height - 5' 9", Eyes - Black, Hair - Black, Complexion - Fair * On Aug. 31, 1862 he is listed as sick in the hospital and again on Oct. 31, 1862 * He was wounded at Fredericksburg, Virginia Dec. 13, 1862 and lost 6 inches of a leg bone when a Minnie ball passed through and destroyed his right leg. * Discharged Feb.
