Pa. * Died Feb. 13, 1922 I Johnstown, Pa. * Private Co. D 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry * Enlisted Aug 1, 1862 at age 21 in Stoystown, Pa * Mustered in Aug. 22, 1862 in Harrisburg, Pa * Transferred to 59th Veterans Reserve Corps Nov. 7, 1864, and served until the end of the war. * Wounded in the hip on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pa. * Taken prisoner and carried to the Pennsylvania College which remained under control of Lee's forces until the afternoon of July 3, 1863, when the Confederate Army was driven fron Gettysburg. * He was a patient in a Northern Hospital where he served a long time as cook. * Invalid Pension: Applied Dec. 15, 1877, Application #245761, Certificate #157803 SOURCE: * 1906 County History, Somerset County, Pa. * Meyersdale Republican July 12, 1934 * Muster Roster Co.
