Infantry * Enlisted at age 24 on Aug. 1, 1862 in Stoystown, Pa * Mustered in Aug. 27, 1862 in Harrisburg, Pa * Discharged July 1, 1865 Served Aug. 22, 1862 - July 1, 1865 * Disability - Deafness caused by cannon, frostbitten feet * On Jan. 18, 1863, he left regiment for medical treatment * On July 1863, he was treated for "lame back and legs" at a hospital in West Philadelphia when his regiment saw action at Gettysburg Later he was sent to Camp Convalescent, Alexandria, Virginia * In Oct. 1864, he was transferred to the 22nd Regiment Veteran Reserves Corp. * Private in Captain D.
