* Born July 1, 1838 in Hexbarger near Kingwood, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died March 11, 1921 in Upper Turkeyfoot Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Buried in I. O. O. F. Cemetery, Kingwood, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Private Co. D 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enlisted at age 24 on Aug. 1, 1862 in Stoystown, Pa 
* Mustered in Aug. 27, 1862 in Harrisburg, Pa 
* Discharged July 1, 1865 Served Aug. 22, 1862 - July 1, 1865 
* Disability - Deafness caused by cannon, frostbitten feet 
* On Jan. 18, 1863, he left regiment for medical treatment 
* On July 1863, he was treated for "lame back and legs" at a hospital in West 
Philadelphia when his regiment saw action at Gettysburg Later he was sent to 
Camp Convalescent, Alexandria, Virginia 
* In Oct. 1864, he was transferred to the 22nd Regiment Veteran Reserves Corp. 
* Private in Captain D. L. Beckwith's Co. A 22nd Regiment Veterans Reserves 
Corps 
* Enrolled Aug. 1, 1862 to serve 3 years or the duration 
* Discharged July 1, 1865 at Camp Denison, Ohio by reason of G. O. #116 W. D. A. 
G. O. Washington June 17, 1865 
* Age 23 
* Height - 5'10"; Hair - Dark; Complexion - Fair; Eyes - Dark 
* Occupation - Farmer 
* Paid in full July 5, 1865 
* Filed Oath of Identity Nov. 27, 1866 while a resident of Upper Turkeyfoot Twp.

* At his insistence there were no flowers at his funeral, only flags. 
* He was buried in his army uniform.
