* Corporal Co. H 85th Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Walked from Confluence, Pa to Uniontown, Pa. to enlist 
* Enrolled Oct. 8, 1861 at age 22 in Harnedsville, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Mustered in Nov. 12, 1861 as Corporal in Uniontown, Pa. 
* Discharged on Surgeon's Certificate of Disability Jan. 20, 1863 
* Served Oct. 8, 1861 - Jan. 19, 1863 
* Re-enlisted in Battery L 3rd Pa. Heavy Artillery ( 188th Regiment Pa. Infantry 
organized Apr. 1, 1864 from 3rd Pa. Heavy Artillery )
