* Born in Johnstown, Pa. 
* Private Co. F 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enrolled Aug. 20, 1862 at age 19 in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. by F. A. Edmunds 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Lieutenant Brayton, U. S. A. 
* Mustered out with company May 29, 1865 
* Eyes - Black; Hair - Black; Complexion - Fair; Height - 5' 6" 
* Occupation at enrollment - Farmer 
* He was in the following battles: Chancelorsvile; Gettysburg where he was 
wounded; Wilderness; Petersburg, where he was wounded; Raid to Bellfield and 
Lee's Surrender 
* Jan. 1, 1865 he was taken to Guardhouse for shooting in New Years last night, 
an old custom much practiced at home. 
* May 19, 1863 is to be charged for knapsack because he lost his on their last 
march. 
* Invalid Pension: applied May 1, 1879, Application #283627, Certificate 
#204034; Widow Pension: Application #351006, Certificate #239320
