* Born Oct. 12, 1818 in Germany 
* Died Mar. 16, 1894 
* Buried in Getz Cemetery, Southampton Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Co. K 2nd Regiment Md. Potomac Home Brigade Infantry 
* Enlisted Nov. 4, 1862 at Cumberland Md. 
* On April 4, 1863 he was mustered into active duty. 
* He was 44 1/2 years old when he was mustered into the army. 
* Pay records indicate he was part of two companies, Co. K and Co. C. Records 
indicate that he was in the artillery with both companies. 
* Transferred to Co. C 
* Discharged on May 29, 1865 at Camp Bradford in Baltimore, Md. 
* Served Apr. 18, 1863 - May 29, 1865 - 25 month 11 days
* Company K Muster Roll dated Nov. and Dec. 1862 lists the following: Present or 
absent - not stated, enrolled Nov. 4, 1862 at Cumberland, Maryland 
* Detachment Muster In Roll dated New Creek, W. Va. Aug. 14, 1863 lists the 
following: Private Co. K 2nd Regiment Maryland Potomac Home Brigade Infantry, 
age 45, enrolled Apr. 18, 1863 in Cumberland, Maryland for 3 years service 
* Company K Muster Roll dated Jan. and Feb. 1863 lists him as on daily duty, 
artillery 
* Special Muster Roll for Company K Apr. 10, 1863 lists the following: Present 
or absent - not stated and mustered in Nov. 4, 1862 at Cumberland, Maryland 
* Company K Muster Roll dated Mar. and Apr. 1863 lists him as on daily duty, 
artillery 
* Company K Muster Roll dated July and Aug. and Sept. and Oct. 1863 lists the 
following: Present or absent - Present and as on duty daily artillery since Feb. 
1, 1863 
* Company C Muster Roll for Sept. and Oct. 1864 lists the following: Private Co. 
C 2nd Md. P. H. B., joined and enrolled for duty - Nov. 4, 1864 in Cumberland, 
Maryland for 3 years service, mustered in Aug. 14, 1863 at New Creek, W. Va. 
* Company C Muster Out Roll dated may 29, 1865 lists the following: mustered out 
May 29, 1865 at Camp Bradford, Baltimore, Maryland, last paid Apr. 30, 1864, 
Clothing account - Due soldier $5.12, Due U. S. for ordinance lost - ten cents 
and bounty due $100 
* Disability - Chronic Diarrhea - Piles 
* On May 30, 1865 he began receiving a pension of six dollars a month. Pension 
was increased to eight dollars a month on Oct. 8, 1881. On Mar. 24, 1891 his 
pension was increased to twelve dollars a month. He then received this amount 
until his death.
