Philson, James Platt

* Born Sept. 10, 1847 in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died Jan. 10, 1925 in Omaho, Nebraska 
* Buried in I. O. O. F. Cemetery, Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Lived in Somerset Co. Pa. as a child 
* Drafted into the Confederate Army at age 17 
* Private Co. I 3rd Regiment South Carolina Infantry 
* Private Co. E 4th Battalion South Carolina Reserves 
* While serving as a guard at the hospital at Libby prison he saw two boyhood 
friends, Albert Hefley and Porter Hefley. When he sought permission to speak to 
them he was at once transferred to another department. 
* Returned to Berlin after the war.
