Platt, William H.

* Born in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died July 22, 1923 in Illinois 
* Musician Co. F 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enrolled Aug. 20, 1862 at age 16 in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. by F. A. Edmunds 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Lieutenant Brayton, U. S. A. 
* Eyes - Hazel; Hair - Light; Complexion - Fair; Height - 5'  6"  
* Occupation at enrollment - Clerk 
* Fifer, never did a days service since he came out, being a mere boy could not 
stand the hardships of a soldiers life. He was sick all winter, no life in him. 
Jacob Zorn states that just like a child if I did not look after him he would 
neglect himself all together. Discharged Mar. 19, 1863 on Surgeon's Certificate 
* Invalid Pension: Applied Oct. 16, 1885 and Feb. 13, 1909, Application #552075, 
Certificate #352887
