* Born Oct. 15, 1847 near Friedens, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died Feb. 20, 1911 in Johnstown, Pa. 
* Buried in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Pa. 
* Private Battery D 1st Pa. Light Artillery 
* Mustered in Aug. 15, 1864 
* Mustered out June 21, 1865 
* Represented his age as 19 when he enlisted. He was 15 years old. 
* Fought in the following battles: Gettysburg and Little Round Top 
* Brother of Jonathan D. Rhoades 
* Both brothers fought at Gettysburg but never met during the Civil war. 
* Served 10 month 
* Invalid Pension: Applied Sept. 12, 1890, Application #979059, Certificate 
#772040; Widow Pension: Applied Mar. 6, 1911, Application #959829, Certificate 
#720051
