Pa. * Died Apr. 4, 1897 near Springfield, Pa. * Buried in Normalville Cemetery, Normalville, Pa * Private Co. C 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry * Enlisted Aug 12, 1862 at age 23 in Somerset, Pa * Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 in Harrisburg, Pa * On the first day at Gettysburg after firing 58 cartridges having but two left) he was struck in the right arm by a ball from the enemy, disabling him from any further services; being placed at a farm house with other wounded, he fell into the hands of the confederates, and was three days without food, as the enemy appropriated all the rations left for the wounded.
