* Born Jan. 16, 1818 in Upper Turkeyfoot Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died Jan. 4, 1909 
* Buried in Jersey Cemetery, Lower Turkeyfoot Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. 
* He was hired by Alexander W. Walters of Ursina, Pa. to join the army as a 
substitute. 
* Private Co. K 171st Regiment Pa. Drafted Militia 
* Enlisted Oct 24, 1862 at age 42 in Harrisburg, Pa
* Mustered in Oct. 24, 1862 in Harrisburg, Pa for 9 months 
* Three weeks after his enlistment he deserted, Nov. 27, 1862 
* Returned on Apr.18, 1863 
* Discharged Aug. 6, 1863 due to injury 
* Served Oct. 24, 1862 - Aug. 6, 1863 - 9 month 12 days 
* Absent sick in hospital at muster out 
* Invalid Pension: Applied Aug. 12, 1878 and Feb. 27, 1908, Application #259107,
