* Born July 12, 1845 in Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died May 30, 1876 
* Buried in Indian Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Fayette Co. Pa. 
* Private Co. F 159th Regiment 14th Pa. Cavalry 
* Enlisted Aug. 13, 1862 
* Mustered in Nov. 23, 1862 
* Mustered out Aug. 24, 1865 with company 
* Discharged Aug. 24, 1865 
* Killed while sitting on the railroad track (probably asleep) 
* He was struck in the head breaking his skull 
* Because of the illness of his companion he was on duty day and night for a 
week 
* His father, James and three brothers were in the Civil War. 
* Widow Pension: Applied July 26, 1890, Application #445486, Certificate #359241
