Infantry * Died of disease * Enrolled Aug. 18, 1861 at age 23 in Springfield, Pa. * Mustered in Nov. 6, 1861 as Private in Uniontown, Pa. and earned $13 per month * On Aug. 18, 1862, while on a march from Harrison's Landing, Va. he left the ranks due to illness * Died June 18, 1862 of disease at Harrisons Landing, Pa. * His father James was in his unit and three brothers, Jonas, Josiah and David also served in the Civil War.
