D. * Discharged July 13, 1865 at Clouds Mills, Virginia by reason of S. O. #44 C. C. Hd. Qrs. * Served Feb. 11, 1864 - July 13, 1865 - 17 month 2 days * Age 18 * Height - 5'7"; Hair - Dark; Complexion - Light; Eyes - Dark * Occupation - Farmer * Paid in full ??? 20, 1865 * Mr. Shoemaker in conversation with Mr. Bisel related an incident of the last engagement at Appomattox as a member of the 20th Pa. Cavalry. He said orders were issued to his cavalry regiment to lighten for action, and he cut loose a ham which he had tied to his saddle and tossed it among the 142nd infantry men who were camped alongside the cavalry men.
