* Enlisted Aug. 11, 1862 at age 21 in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. by F. A. Edmunds 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Lieutenant Brayton, U. S. A. 
* Mustered out May 29, 1865 with company 
* Served Sept. 2, 1862 - May 29, 1865 - 32 month 27 days 
* Promoted to Corporal Oct. 22, 1864 
* Eyes - Gray; Hair - Dark; Complexion - Fair; Height - 5' 5" 
* Occupation at enrollment - Farmer 
* He was in the following battles: Fredericksburg; On detached duty at 
Commissary and returned to company Apr. 1864; Wilderness; Laurel Ridge; 
Spottsylvania; Bethesda Church; Petersburg; Weldon R. R.; Popular Grove Church; 
Peebles Farm; Raid to Bellfield; Dabney's Mill, where he was wounded Feb. 6th 
and returned Feb. 19th; Boydtown; Plank Road; Five Forks and Lee's Surrender
