* Enlisted Aug. 20, 1862 at age 19 in Berlin, Somerset Co. Pa. by F. A. Edmunds 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Lieutenant Brayton, U. S. A 
* Mustered out with company May 29, 1865 
* Served Sept. 1, 1862 - May 29, 1865 - 32 month 28 days 
* Discharged Jan. 29, 1865 
* Disability - Shot through neck. 
* Eyes - Hazel; Hair - Brown; Complexion - Fair; Height - 5' 7" 
* Occupation at enrollment - Farmer 
* He was in the following battles: Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862; 
Chancelorsville, May 1, 1863; Gettysburg, July 1, 2 and 3, 1863; Wilderness, May 
5, 1864 where he was wounded in the neck by a Minnie Ball; Weldon R. R., Aug. 
21, 1864. He returned to Co. Aug. 13, 1864; Popular Grove Church; Peebles Farm; 
Raid to Bellfield; Hatches Run; Dabney's Mill Feb. 6, 1864, where he was 
wounded; Discharged at hospital after Lee's Surrender.
