* Died 1904 
* Buried in Fritz St. Paul Cemetery, Brothersvalley Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Private in Lieutenant Joseph Lepley's Co. F 142nd Regiment Pa. Infantry 
commanded by R. P. Cummins 
* Enrolled Aug. 15, 1862 to serve 3 years or the duration by F. A. Edmunds 
* Mustered in Aug. 25, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pa. by Lieutenant Brayton 
* Absent, sick at muster out 
* Discharged May 25, 1865 at Mower U. S. A. General Hospital by reason of 
instructions of War Department dated May 3, 1865 
* Age 28 
* Height 6'2"; Hair - Dark; Complexion - Fair; Eyes - Hazel 
* Occupation at enrollment - Farmer 
* Filed Oath of Identity Dec. 21, 1868 while a resident of Milford Twp. Somerset 
Co. Pa. 
* Served Aug. 15, 1862 - May 25, 1865 - 33 month 10 days 
* Disability - Shot in foot 
* Deserted in 1863, caught and was sentenced by Court Martial to forfeit three 
month pay and do fatigue work in camp for two month, with a ball and chain. 
* Shot in the foot at Gettysburg while laying in line of battle before the 
action fully commenced. 
* He was in the following battles: Fredericksburg and Gettysburg 
* Jan. 16, 1863 he was detailed to hunt for the body of Herman Fritz, did not 
find body 
* Invalid Pension: Applied Dec. 24, 1868, Application #138010, Certificate 
#98252; Widow Pension: Application #804713, Certificate #721606
