* Born Oct. 5, 1843 in Upper Turkeyfoot Twp. Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Died July 4, 1935 in Washington, Washington Co. Pa. 
* Buried in Rosemont Cemetery, Cameron, Marshall Co. W. Va. 
* Private Co. C 140th Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enlisted July 22, 1862 
* Mustered in Aug. 22, 1862 
* Wounded July 2, 1863 in thigh at Gettysburg, ball was never removed. Taken 
prisoner, but was immediately released supposing he would die. 
* He is a brother of Daniel Younkin. 
* Also in 46th Co. 2 Battalion Veteran Reserve Corps 
* Transferred to 96th Co. 
* Veteran 
* Discharged Aug. 2, 1865 by reason of expiration of term of service 
* Invalid Pension: Applied Aug. 18, 1866, Application #113875, Certificate 
#78321
