Crouse and his son, Corporal Edgar L. Crouse, reported as missing in action in the casualty list of August 7, have now been reported as having been taken prisoners by the Germans. They were members of the Somerset company that saw strenuous action during the first week of the fighting in the recent great drive in the Chateau-Thierry sector. Ralph Amos, of the Tribune composing room, and a brother-in-law of Lieutenant Crouse, was last night notified that Crouse and his son had been taken prisoners and both were uninjured and well. The news came through the regular channel in reporting of Americans being taken prisoners and sent to German prison camps. Both Lieutenant Crouse and his son are well known in this section and in Bedford county. Altoona Tribune, Friday morning, August 16, 1918, page 10
