The Somerset Herald. (Somerset, Pa.) February 18, 1880
In Shade township,  Somerset county, three miles beyond scalp level, last evening,
the lifeless body of Mr. Peter Berkeybile was found lying in the snow near a piece
of timber in a clearing, where he had come that morning for the purpose of hauling
in logs… Mr. Berkeybile resided in what is known as the English Dan Berkey farm, and
was one of the best known citizens of that district. He was aged about fifty-eight
years.
