Born April 24, 1909 in Kantner, a son of Thomas Joseph and Hattie Margaret (Rininger) Adams. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Eleanor Evelyn Painter, who died Aug. 26, 1980; brothers, Jack and William Adams; sisters, Madeline Dickey and Mary Vanear. Survived by children, Sienna C. Ash, Somerset, and Richard Lee Adams, married to the former Jane Rose, Fox Chapel; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Gerard (Lisa) Yeckley, Friedens, Scott C. Ash, married to the former Joanna Miller, Rockwood, Mrs. Ricky (Jennifer) Shaffer of Mt. Joy, Brandon Richard Adams, married to the former Lauren Jones, West Mifflin, Brett M. Adams, Pleasant Hills, Zachary Thomas Adams, Fox Chapel, Miss Jordan Elizabeth Adams, Fox Chapel; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Baer, Taryn and Adam Yeckley, Alexander Ash, Tyler and Emily Shaffer. Brother of Mrs. Alice Berkey, New Vienna, Ohio. Member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. World War II veteran U.S. Army. Dispatcher for PennDOT, retiring in 1972. Member of VFW Post 554, American Legion Post 181 and FOE Aerie 1801. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset. Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli, Celebrant. Vigil for the deceased 3:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He is also survived by his wife of 22 years Betty Landis Byrd Adams of Lake Meade, East Berlin, Pa. A stepdaughter Cheryl Cook of Mechanicsburg and three step grandchildren: Donald C. Ulzheimer II of Mechanicsburg, Kirsten Flanagan of Lafayette Hill, and Troy Ulzheimer of Williamsport, and a step great-grandson, Donald C. Ulzheimer III of whom he was especially fond.
